President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met on Tuesday with athletes who represented the country at the XXIV Summer Deaflympics in Brazil, his press service said.
The Kyrgyz leader congratulated deaf athletes on successful performance at the competitions, and noted importance of this meeting, adding that it is a tribute to hard work and spirit strength of the Kyrgyz athletes.
At XXIV Summer Deaflympics, held on May 1-15, the national team of Kyrgyzstan won 6 medals, from which 2 are silver and 4 – bronze. For the first time in the history of the country, national athletes have achieved such a successful result.
“It is a great feat to be able to work hard and achieve your goals, not to succumb to fate, but to do everything possible to contribute to the development of your country. I want to express my great gratitude to the athletes of the Kyrgyz National Deaflympics team, who passed such a difficult way, and once again raised the national flag in the international arena, as well as coaches and doctors who took care of the athletes and supported them day and night,” Zhaparov said.
He also emphasized the need to amend the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on physical culture and sports and to equate Paralympic and Deaflympic sports with Olympic ones. The president highlighted the need to include these sports in the unified budget of scholarships with lump-sum cash bonuses.- Kabar
