ISLAMABAD, March 27: Unknown angry mob attacked singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed at the Benazir International Airport on Saturday night.
A charged crowd claimed that Jamsheed had committed blasphemy by uttering objectionable words against Hazrat Aisha, the wife of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The charged crowd, who were over two dozen in number, assaulted him and punched him before he was rescued by security personnel.
“We have been looking for you,” one of the attackers yelled at him before hitting and chasing him. The singer-turned-evangelist maintained silence and offered the enraged crowd to “talk” but the angry mob didn’t listened to him while chanting slogans.
The incident came over a year after a controversy that landed Jamshed into hot water. He later offered a public apology by ‘accepting his mistake’. A blasphemy case against him was registered in December 2014.-Online
