RAWALPINDI, June 26: Punjab Arts Council in collaboration with Anti Narcotics Control Force organized a special program to mark world Drug and illegal human trafficking day. Director General Anti Narcotics Force Major General GhulamShabirNareejo (Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military) was the chief guest of the ceremony.
The special guest of the function, Major General GhulamShabbirNarejo, said that on the occasion of International Day, I assure my nation and the international community that the ANF will continue to fight against drug use and trafficking with full dedication and high professionalism.
The ANF will spare no effort in carrying out its duties and will spare no effort to protect the Holy Land from the dangers of drugs. We pledge to carry forward our Manifesto with utmost determination, sincerity and devotion, he added. He further said that we also pay tribute to our martyrs who sacrificed their “today” for the better “tomorrow” of our future generations and the sacred duty of drug free world.
Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed said that Anti-Drug Day has been observed every year since 1987 in accordance with a UN resolution. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse around the world and the dangers it poses to society, especially young people.
The program featured a drug-based drama “Zehr-e-Qatil” Written and directed by Imran Roshdi. The versatile group from Lahore performed cultural dances of different regions and won the hearts of the audience.
At the end of the program, renowned Sufi singer SanamMarvi tied the knot by presenting a mystical speech. Dr. Mubashir and Shaan Khan also evoked the magic of sound. The event was attended by a large number of people from the twin cities. -PR
