ISLAMABAD, March 30: The Minister for National Health Service Saira Afzal Tarar said that the abundant similarities amongst our systems, culture and socio-economic factors make it easier for us to communicate with each other and understand issues and challenges that are rooted in a similar context and fruitful discussions during the course of the two days which have been crystallized into a tangible outcome. We clearly have with us now a mechanism of institutionalizing our collaborations in the days ahead. She was addressing South Asian Materanal, Newborn and Child Health Conference here on Wednesday.
She said that regional working group is being tasked to develop a common vision for maternal and child health for the counties of the region.
She said this indeed shall be a major achievement and give a major boost to our partnership. There is a vast potential in learning from each other in the area of research and health policy. Some regional countries have taken major storied in this regard and there is much that the region can learn and benefit from the progress they have made.
Minister said we recognize the need for reliable date management and evidence based policy planning as reflected in your discussions Sustainability and continuity of policies ant most critical of all a strong political will are essential ingredients for a robust maternal and child health programme.-PR
