MUZAFFARABAD: July 21: Polling for 41 constituencies of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held on Thursday. The polling was started at 8:00am and continued till 5:00pm without any break, sources reported.
At least 423 candidates ran for 41 constituencies of the AJK Legislative Assembly. Strong competition was expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is contesting election on all 41 seats while PML-N has fielded 38 candidate and PTI is contesting election from 32 constituencies.
PML-N is leading in 19 constituencies, PPP in 5, PTI in 3, Muslim Conference in 1 and others in 2. LA-17 Poonch 1 Abbas Pur: PML-N s Chaudhry Yaseen Gulshan extends his lead with 972 votes while PPP s Sardar Amjad Yousuf is following with 258 votes. LA-21 Sidhnoti 1 Plindri: JUI s Maulana Saeed Yousuf leads the poll with 951 votes. LA-35 Jammu-6: PML-N s Raja Siddique leading the poll with 1130 votes while Independent candidate Sardar Abdur Razzaq behind with 419 votes. LA-21 Plindri: PML-N s candidate Dr Najeeb Naqi leading the poll with 701 votes while JUI candidate Maulana Yousuf Saeed follows him in a close contest with 650 votes. LA-13 Gharbi Bagh: Sardar Attique of Muslim Conference won the election according to unofficial, unverified results. PML-N candidates leading from LA 1, 6, 7, 8 and 9 while Muslim Conference is in lead from LA-5. LA-5: Mirza Shafiq Jarral of Muslim Confernece leads the poll with 1255 votes. PML-N candidates leading from LA 22, 30, 33, while PPP candidate losing the poll in LA-23. LA-20: JKPP candidate leading the poll. LA-19: PPP s Farzana Yaqoob leading the poll with 180 votes. PML-N leader from Lahore Zaeem Hussain Qadri says that PML-N is leading the polls because PML-N has performed ever since it came to power in 2008. He said that the Kashmiris also knew that PML-N had a vision and thus they voted for Pakistan.PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry said that PML-N government never raised the Kashmir issue on international level. He hoped that PML-N government in Kashmir would finally begin raising the issue internationally. LA-12 Kotli-5: PTI s Chaudhry Rafique Nayyar leads the poll. Sardar Mahmood Iqbal of JKPP leads the poll from LA-20. Chaudhry Aziz from LA16, Bagh-4 Haveli leads with 886 votes while Khawaja Tariq Saeed of PPP follows with 86 votes. Chaudhry Yaseen Gulshan of PML-N leads the poll from LA-17. PML-N candidate Syed Shaukat Shah leads with 1218 from LA-38. PML-N candidate Najeeb Latti leads from LA-23. PML-N candidate Raja Farooq Haider is also in lead from his constituency Muzaffarabad-5 with 202 votes. LA-39 Waadi 4: Asad Aleem Shah from PML-N leads with1026 votes. LA-40 Waadi 5: PML-N candidate Ahmad Raza Qadri leads the election with 236 votes 1582 votes while PPP candidate follows him with 803 votes. LA-41 Waadi 6: Abdul Majid Khan of PTI leads with 214 votes while PPP s Abdur Rehman Sulehria follows with 97 votes. LA-7 Bhimber 3: Chaudhry Tariq Farooq of PML-N leads the poll with 402 votes and Independent candidate Chaudhry Anwarul Haque is behind him with 147 votes. LA-23 Neelum Valley: PML-N candidate Shah Ghulam Qadir leading the poll with 165 votes while Mufti Mansoor ur-Rehman of Muslim Conference (MC) follows with 6 votes. LA-15 Bagh 3 Mashriqi: PML-N candidate Sardar Mir Akbar leading the poll with 480 votes and Sardar Zia Qamar of PPP is behind him with 105 votes. LA 37: PTI candidate Ghulam Mohiudeen Deewan leads election with 1689 votes from Hamza Shahbaz s seat from Lahore. Renowned TV anchor Mushtaq Minhas, contesting the poll from LA-14, Bagh 2 Wasti is lagging behind with only 105 votes against PPP s Sardar Qamar Zaman who has secured 581 votes so far.-Agencies
