BUREWALA, August 29: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan stated on Monday that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif was looking for foreign recommendations in order to avoid Panama Leaks investigation, sources reported..
While addressing a public gathering at Burewala regarding the upcoming by-elections in the area, Khan lambasted Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder and stated that PTI shall ensure that the era of the person behind spread terror while residing in London since the past 23 years comes to an end.
Imran Khan stated that the slogans of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ shall be raised in Lahore on September 3 when the party organises the Pakistan march. PTI Chairman appealed the locals to go out of their homes and cast votes in the by-elections taking place on August 31. Earlier, Imran Khan said that his party has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing the journalists, Imran said, “The premier has been destroying key institutions to hide corruption.” The PTI chief reiterated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had lost credibility by failing to issue notices in the wake of the Panama Papers controversy. “Nawaz Sharif lied to the nation in order to transfer wealth abroad,” Imran stated.
“After much deliberation, we have decided to file a petition against Nawaz Sharif in SC,” Imran told the media on Sunday in Lahore. The party has sought disqualification of Nawaz as well as an inquiry into the Panamagate scandal, the head of PTI’s media department, Iftikhar Durrani, told a private TV Channel. He admitted the party had been divided over approaching the apex court.
The petition was drafted by two leading lawyers, Naeem Bokhari, and a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association [SCBA], Hamid Khan, he said. Durrani said, “We will submit documents regarding properties purchased [in London] during 1993 and 1996.” These properties were later attached in Al-Toufiq case in 1999, but Nawaz claimed he had purchased these properties in 2005. “How these properties could be attached by the court [in the UK] back in 1998 if they were purchased in 2005?” he questioned.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan said his party would send delegations to different political parties to formally invite them to join their September 3 rally in Lahore. “We will appear on our container but will also invite all opposition parties to bring their containers too,” he added.
Dismissing reservations that the party would fail to ensure a huge turnout at the rally, he said the PTI would come out with “full force”. He said the prime minister was trying to create doubts about his party’s street agitation. “Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N are products of dictatorship,” he said. -Agencies
