Somebody rightly said there is monarchy in the country instead of democracy. It was also said correctly that despite hollow claims of good governance the governmental affairs have gone from bad to worse. Truer words were never spoken.
Sharif family rules the roost in the PML (N). Bhuttos run the show in the PPP. Bacha Khan’s offspring look after the affairs of the ANP. Chaudris of Gujarat call the shots in the PML (Q). Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and his brothers occupy the driver’s seat in JUI (F). Maulana Sami-ul-Haque and his next of kin control the other half of the JUI which once used to be a single party. There are many smaller parties at the regional level and almost all of them are fiefdoms of the persons who head them. The JI, perhaps, is the only party which is not dynastic in essence.
At the moment it seems to be very difficult to break their shackles as their common interests have bonded them into a single fold. They don’t want persons belonging to the lower cadres of their parties or any other person not belonging to their family come to the top and pose any threat to their political dynasty. What a pity that one see experienced and grey haired politicians who have gone through the rough and tumble of politics and are also long in the tooth kowtowing to the likes of Bilawal, Hamza Sharif, Maryam, to mention a few. These senior politicians should be ashamed of themselves .Good governance is inextricably linked to merit. The administration whether it is of district or of the various line departments in the district or the police are primarily responsible for providing good governance to the tax payers. For that to happen it is very important and essential that right man is recruited for the right job. That is not happening in this country for decades now with the result that the writ of the government is simply not visible anywhere. The entire administration has been highly politicised .Instead of providing relief to the common man the administrators now work as hired assassins for the government in power.
