ISLAMABAD, November 2: Thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters, led by Imran Khan and accompanied by other party leaders, have gathered at Parade Ground in the federal capital to ‘celebrate victory’, following the Supreme Court hearing of Panamagate petitions.
The PTI chief thanks party’s lawmakers from KP for their bravery. He hails Pervez Khattak as the hero of Pakistan.
Imran starts his speech by saying that he waits for the day when Nawaz and his brother are put behind bars.
He asked the prime minister if he was not ashamed when the women workers of PTI were manhandled.
“Nawaz has been inaugurating one road after another since the Panama leaks came to the forefront.”
Imran also targetted his political opponents and hurled allegations at them.
“Fazal ur Rehman, in past you were making money from diesel permit, now you are taking money from Nawaz Sharif,” says Imran to the massive gathering.
“Asif Zardari and Khursheed Shah are afraid of accountability as they are predicting its PPP term in the next elections.”
“This is not a solo flight and I am not going solo in this fight against corruption. I have millions of Pakistanis with me,” Imran replies to the earlier criticism he received from the ruling party.
He adds that there were no weapons amongst PTI workers, the only weapon present was “Shiekh Rasheed’s cigar”.
“I warn you Sharif brothers, do not use the police like you did in the past few days,” says Imran while referring to police actions taken in the run-up to the planned Nov 2 ‘lockdown’.
Imran reiterates that it is the people’s right under a democracy to stage a protest against corruption.
He questions the effectiveness of national institutions including NAB. “Supreme Court asked NAB officials why they didnt work on accountability of Nawaz Sharif.”
Imran also referred to the “Charter of Democracy” as an instrument of compromise and corruption. He alleges the charter has been used by both Nawaz and Zardari to indulge in wholesale corruption.
“You will see this country will progress rapidly, investment will come to this country.”
“Pakistan has changed, a new era has begun. From tomorrow the accountability will start in the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” says the PTI chief as a final message to the rally.
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that we are proud on the leadership of CM KPK, Pervez Khattak.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi has e said that PTI is a democratic party.
On Islamabad lockdown he said PML-N has given the impression that we are coming to attack Islamabad. He said we were coming to bury the corrupt politics and not the democracy. He said the PTI workers have proved that their destination is now very near to them. He said I asked the IG Islamabad to come and see whether we have weapons or not. We do not carry weapons, he said.
CM KPK, Pervez Khattak who was proceeding to Islamabad to take part in the rally in Islamabad said that I have told my workers if I die during teargassing and rubber bullet fires, my body be taken to Bani Gala.
Addressing a big public gathering Pervez Khattak said that this country is not of anyone’s father. He said Government tried to put pathans in front of other pathans. He said how FC pathans can fire bullets on other pathans. He said we brought our Kafans with us.
He said this impression is being given that Governor rule will be imposed in KPK, He said we are not hungry of the chair, we do not care it.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif tried to buy the judges.
Sheikh Rasheed while touching the Panama Leaks issue said that Supreme Court would bring the country out of the present crisis. He said we donot accept the sacrifice of Pervez Rasheed. He described himself as advocate of Imran Khan.
He said everybody is commenting on Panama Leaks but India is silent on this issue.Imran Khan said nobody knows Nawaz Sharif as I know him.

Pivoting from protest to peaceful celebration, the PTI chief on Tuesday had changed its plan from November 2 ‘lockdown’ to a day of thanksgiving in Islamabad.
KP lawmaker Farman Shah, while addressing the PTI workers earlier in the eveing, said: “We are not against Punjab, we are against the PML-N.”
“We are not against the federation, we are against thieves,” he asserted.
Party supporters had chanted “Go Nawaz Go” slogans upon the arrival of Imran Khan at the rally.
Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jahangir Khan Tareen and Sheikh Rasheed are sitting on the stage along with other party leaders.
Three entry points have been established at the Parade Ground; one for media, one for VIPs and one for general public.
The interior ministry said that more than 10,000 policemen have been deployed to perform security duties at the Parade Ground. PTI’s party anthems are being played from the stage and workers are waving the party flags.-Agencies
