ISLAMABAD, November 18: The interesting details regarding the Cabinet Members of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) reveal that eight ministers of PML-N Kashmir led government do not pay tax.
Information Minister Mishtaq Minhas and Minister for Physical Planning and Housing, Agriculture and Livestock Tariq Farooq earn 1.5 million each per month and Mushtaq Minhas is at the top of list in tax paying. Both leaders have paid Rs. 4 lac 94 thousand as tax.
Four members including Raja Farooq Haider Prime Minister AJK and Speaker legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir have no personal vehicle.
Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Farooq Sikandar Khan spends Rs.1.2 million annually on his wife and Rs, 1.92 million on education of his two sons and three daughters.
Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan Minister for law, justice, parliamentary affairs and electricity earns Rs. 90 thousand per month including Rs. 60 thousand per month pension.
Minister for industry and social welfare of women, Noreen Arif owns a plot in Revenue officers colony Mirpur while under construction house in Rawalpindi is property of her daughter in law. She owns a house, 22 shops, 30 tolla of gold, Rs. 530000 in bank account, two vehicles but has not shown any income in his assets details submitted with Election Commission.Minister for Physical Planning and Housing, Agriculture and Livestock Tariq Farooq’s three wives collectively have 45 tolla of gold and about 1.1 million rupees are in various bank accounts of his wives, 3 sons and 4 daughters. He spends 6 Lac and 10 thousand rupees on education of his children.
According to search report of “SABAH” the assets details with EC of AJK shows that Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani Minister for education (higher, elementary and secondary) and Muzaffarabad City Development Project, has four kanal joint plot in Shah Allah Ditta area, one Toyota Corolla car, 20 tolla gold, 80 thousand rupees in two bank accounts. He earns Rs. 150492 per month and spends 360000 annually on education of three children. His tax number is 61101-2960252-3.
Health Minster Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Naqi,s asset detail reveals that Dr. has more than three kanal’s two houses in Plandri, 12 marla land in Plandri city. He has more than two lac rupees in two separate bank accounts and earns two lac rupees per month. Two vehicles Cement and Gas agencies, three hundred shares of Kepko. He has National tax No. 1397651-6.
Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Farooq Sikandar has shown, a Suzuki Car, a Corolla car, Plot at OC Hills, a plot at Khanna Islamabad, a shared house in Islamabad and 12 kanal land in Islamabad in its assets details. He owns ornaments of Rs.500000 worth and has more than Rs.11.7 million in a joint bank account with his brother. He has Rs. 641000, Rs. 2803642 and Rs 1.1million in three bank accounts of HBL, ABL and HBL respectively. He pays one lac rupees tax annually.
According to search report of SABAH, Minister for Communication and Works Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz owns, more than 20 kanal land in Haveli Kahuta, double storey house, one third of another house, legal books of 2 lac rupees, a vehicle Toyota Corolla land cruiser, Rs. 07 lac in two bank accounts and Rs. 2.5 million in cash. He has one third share in a petrol pump at Farward Kahuta and ornaments of one lac rupees. He spends 470000 rupees annually on education of his four sons and two daughters. He bears NTN# 01-06-0065805.
Minister for Forests Meer Akbar Khan has more that 180 kanal commercial and agricultural land, ten plots, two land cruisers, five stories hotel in Bagh, more than 14 shops, two commercial houses. He had shown 4 lac rupees per month income and spends one lac and 50 thousand rupees on education of two daughters and one son. He bears NTN # 01-06-0100239.
The key member of AJK cabinet, Information Minister Raja Mushtaq Minhas owns 10 plots of 10 Marlas in Lohi Bher area Islamabad only, three kanal plot in village Gogina Kalan Islamabad, 9 kanal land in Murree, 10 marlas plot in Khayban Kashmir zone -5, three Kanal land in Bani Minhasan. His wife owns a plot of one kanal in Jammu & Kashmir society. He also owns a house in Bahria Town, three plots in various sectors of Islamabad, a two story house and three combine houses in Bagh area of AJK.
Journalist turned politician Mushtaq Minhas owns 35 tolla of gold and has Rs. 1.5 million’s insurance. He has Rs. 2,17460 in his bank account at MCB Islamabad, a Toyota Corolla car and 1.5 million per month income had been showed in the asset details submitted in Election Commission. He bears NTN # 37405-9984368-1 and paid 451254 tax during 2014-15. He spends Rs. 3200000 on education of his only son and two daughters.
Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan Minister for law, justice, parliamentary affairs and electricity owns a residential house, one third of 110 Kanal land, he also owns other 78 kanal land in Kotali. One vehicle and ten tolla gold, 1.9 million rupees are available in his bank account while he receives 60 thousand rupees pension as MLA whereas agricultural income is only Rs. 30000.
According to nomination papers Prime Minister Azad Jammu & Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan owns 29 canal land in Hatian Bala, six canal land in Dooni Shahla, three canal land in Taiqabad. He owns a house consisting on three canal land in Muzzaffarabad City. He also owns 10 marla plot at Girja Road in Rawalpindi. According to nomination papers Farooq Haider did not possess any vehicle. He has not declared any monthly income. He has mentioned National Tax Number (NTN) but did not mention the details of payment of tax amount. He owns 12 bore double barrel gun, 7MM rifle and a 30 bore pistol.
Senior Minister for Physical Planning and Housing, Agriculture and Livestock Chaudhry Tariq Farooq owns a house in Bhimbar that has been transferred to his son. He has over 90 kanal agricultural land in Tehsil Bhimber, 14 Kanal in Kasur district of Punjab as well. One of his three wives owns a plot in Islamabad while four different cars are included in his property. His wives collectively have 45 tola of gold and about 1.1 million rupees are in various bank accounts of his wives, sons and daughters. He paid Rs. 94790 tax in 2015-16.Shah Ghulam Qadir the Speaker of Legislative Assembly, owns 50 tola gold, a jeep Toyota, more than four lac rupees in bank accounts while he earns one lac rupees per month.
Shah Ghulam Qadir has not shown his income tax number and details of paid tax, however he spends Rs. 2,50000 on education of his daughter studying in Islamabad’s university.-Sabah
