SikanderHayatKhanBosan3ISLAMABAD, March 18: Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R) presided over 2nd Joint Working Group meeting of Pakistan-Belarus on Cooperation in Agriculture here at Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFS&R).
Belarus delegation led by Brylo Ihar Vyacheslavovich, Dy. Minister for Food & Agriculture participated in the meeting. Muhammad Abid Javed, Federal Secretary MNFS&R, Dr. Nadeem Amjad, Chairman PARC, Dr. M. Hashim Popalzai, Additional Secretary, senior high officials of both countries and PARC senior scientists were present in the meeting.
In the meeting various matters of mutual interest were discussed for cooperation which include trade and economic cooperation, joint ventures on agro-livestock production and processing, protocols for phytosanitary compliance in export of citrus (kinnow), mango, rice and potatoes, information exchange and to identify products and areas for cooperation in farm mechanization and exploring the possibility of joint production of tradable agricultural machinery and livestock equipment, biotechnology, genetic engineering, seed production and other agriculture new interventions and technologies for the benefit of people of both countries.
Both the parties agreed to conduct the next meeting of the JWG on agriculture cooperation tentatively in August 2016 in Republic of Belarus. They also designated the focal persons responsible for implementation of the decisions the JWG meetings from Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Hashim Popalzai, Additional Secretary of MNFS&R and from Belarus side Brylo.
